  17. <p>    The rap group ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT usually performs with
  18. two live chickens, but for its appearance on Arsenio Hall it
  19. was told to nix such barnyard manners. Otherwise, things
  20. couldn't be finer. Its hit single, Tennessee, an open letter to
  21. God, is creating a stir not just for its blending of hip-hop
  22. and country but also for its spirituality. Still, the rappers
  23. shun organized religion. "The black church has become very
  24. passive. It tells us the only way to solve your problems is to
  25. die and go to heaven," says lead rapper Speech. "We appreciate
  26. life."
